Being new to 'organized' humor writing, I am looking to become a 'made' man ----i.e. trying to get some of my stuff seriously published or at least noticed. I have been writing humor articles for unpaid blogs -----about thirty articles in total---...

I love the idea. There should definitely be a place for us to network, support others, and provide education on... well ... being funny and writing for those who aren't. I am happy to be a boot licker for such an organization such as this.

Cool network concept, Norm. Greatly needed. Probably not greatly appreciated, but hey, that's writing for you.

Humor Writers of America sounds good. Maybe some awards like the Opie and Emmy...perhaps the FacePie?

Hi, Norm. I just went to the forum boards and commented on your idea of Humor Writers of America. I love the idea. I've belonged to such groups for years and I won't bore you with all I wrote, but let me know if the idea is still kicking.

Hello Norm - congrats on the book! As for my husband, well, the ESPN thing is what makes him more maintenance. You see, he's caught-up watching highlights of all the games he already seen. Therefore, he's "too busy" to do other things.

Thanks for the invite and the warm welcome!

Thanks for including me in the Ning.
And speaking from experience, throwing a party that no one comes to is not that bad. The first time it happens, anyway.
But it sounds like that won't be a problem with this group.

You can send it to me directly. That's cool. I can't wait! Hey, if you have any columns 1000 words or less on writing - anything will do, but I'd love to have a piece on writing a humor novel - I can post on Wicked Wordsmith. That will get your name out there some more on the web.

About Me:
I'm presently 'morphing' into a YA author, with my first humor/vampire book for critters, Fang Face coming out in August 2009.

Yeah, that's a bit away.

No problem, you can check out my other books, "The Adventures of Guy ... written by a guy (probably)" and the award winning "The Next Adventures of Guy ... more wackiness."

If you are wondering about how they read, reviewers compare them mostly to Christopher Moore's stuff and Douglas Adams's "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" series.

I've also got stories in two anthologies where the profits are going to charity, "The Heat of the Moment" and "Missing" by Echelon Press.

Ah, so many. My favorite non-lethal one is to tape the spray nozzle of the sink open.

Check out what they're saying about my series: The Adventures of Guy ... written by a guy (probably) and its brand new sequel, The Next Adventures of Guy ... more wackiness:

"... very strongly recommended as a profound, funny and persistently entertaining read from first page to last." Midwest Book Review.

"... a great read for both men and women." Pop Syndicate

"...hilarious mishaps...." Joliet Herald News

"...I'm glad I read it." FWOMP Reviews

"Everything in the book is so true, you can't help but laugh in agreement." Roundtable Reviews

"This book is funny."
Award-winning author Barbara D'Amato.

"...it touched my funny bone." author Robert W. Walker

Pay Pal and stuff

If you are looking for a way to sell your books, think about setting up a PalPay site on your website, so you can promote autographed books.

I, for one (or two, if you include my evil twin), usually don't buy a book unless it's autographed by the author.

Since I've been making friends from all over the globe on sites like Myspace, I've had people from Oregon or N. Carolina ask, "So when are you getting out here for a signing?"

Well, I'm probably not. Most of my signings are near my home.

Now… Continue

SSSUUUUCCCCKKKK!!!!!

You ever watched a vacuum before?

Seriously.

You're picturing dirt getting sucked up into an Eureka, aren't ya? The death of dust bunnies.

But I'm not talking about your Hoover. I'm talking about the vacuum cleaner of the brain ... yep, the TV.

So not seriously after all.

Anyway, it's Monday evening, so it's ....(drum roll) ... time for Brainless Monday!

Woo-hoo!

Why
Brainless Monday, you ask? Because it's my day. So no matter what,… Continue

I'm not Richard Nixon!!

Okay, maybe by the end of this, you'll be going, 'sure, he's a politician like all the others."

Well, maybe, I have been kissing some babies lately. Their heads are all fuzzy and soft, so it can get kind of addicting. I guess I can
understand why the politicians do it all the time.

But why
don't they kiss old people, or

Hey, can I buy your vote?

Um, not with money.

Sex? Nah, you don't want that from me either.

Okay, fine, I don't have anything to offer.

But can you vote for me anyway?

My new book "The Next Adventures of Guy ... more wackiness" is up for Preditor's and Editors SF/Fantasy Book Reader's Poll.

Wouldja mind voting?

The Next Adventures of Guy ... more wackiness

It's out!!

My new book!!

Every Quest has to have a sorcerer, an elf, a warrior, special effects... and most of all, a sequel. So in the hilarious sequel to The Adventures of Guy, Guy and his college buddies, Knob and Thurman, take on a new quest ... to save Earth from alien invasion.

To do this, they must take on Big Oil and other sinister forces using only their wits, their newfound powers and their knowledge of beer, all while overcoming their own leader's la… Continue
